SUMMARY:

The present research aims to analyze the process of constitution of the Brazilian Football Confederation, relating it to the consolidation of businesspeople in management careers in the sport. The debate undertaken is part of the line of research that understands the coup d'état and the dictatorship that began in Brazil in 1964 as a business-military movement. Therefore, it is essential to debate how parity relations between the military and business were essential for the insertion of this new political-economic dynamic in Brazilian football. The period between 1978 and 1987 is established as a chronological cut, a time period in which Brazilian football goes through the height of militarism in its management, experiences movements of political opening and solidifies the presence of the business community, especially during the holding of the Copa União de 1987. Therefore, this work will discuss, based on the analysis of sources from periodicals and official documents, the process of corporateization of society and its reflections on Brazilian football.
