SUMMARY:
The period 1966 - 1971 saw tremendous progress in terms of black representation in Marvel
Comics and DC Comics in the super adventure comic book genre. This was an important
factor contributing to the advancement of African American civil rights. During this period,
classic characters like Black Panther, Falcon and Green Lantern John Stewart showed that
African Americans could be as powerful and heroic as any other member of the Marvel and
DC universes. These characters were not only symbols of civil rights, but also of cultural
pride. They held a special place in the hearts of many readers in the black community, who
saw them as positive representations of their own culture. Furthermore, these characters
have helped inspire countless young people to pursue their dreams with confidence, no
matter what their backgrounds. It is important to recognize the significant impact that black
representation in Marvel Comics and DC Comics had on the Civil Rights Movement during
this period. The success of these characters was a huge step forward for African Americans,
showing that they could be accepted and respected in mainstream culture. It is no
exaggeration to say that these characters contributed greatly to advancing the cause of civil
