SUMMARY:
This research aims to understand the images that circulated in the Rio de Janeiro’s press,
during Estado Novo (1937-1945), about the Nationalization Campaign, with an emphasis on
German-Brazilian’s schools. To this end, journals published in the city of Rio de Janeiro and
available in the Hemeroteca Digital were analyzed, considering the following keywords:
“nationalization campaign”, “nationalization of education”, “foreign schools” and
“German’s schools”. In this sense, we expected to verify what was published, for example,
about the closing of German’s schools, the mandatory teaching of Portuguese and the
impacts of Nazism on German-Brazilian’s schools.
