RESUMO:

The present research seeks to understand the Institute of Research and Social Studies as a space that congregated and organized several projects of the ruling class in the period between 1961-1964. Among the various propositions we are interested mainly in the contribution of the organic intellectuals of the Catholic Church enrolled in the organization. So what is the influence of the Catholic Church in the formulation of the hegemonic project represented by IPES? We have as an initial hypothesis that the contribution of Catholic religious was fundamental. In addition to providing intellectual resources through theologians such as Gustavo Corção and Alceu Amoroso Lima, the Church also offered its contribution to the dissemination of IPES's political ideas through its institutions, organizations and the media. Through Gramsci's theoretical approach, we deduce that the IPES acted systematically as a political party. He organized and organized in his ranks innumerable, organic intellectuals of the national and foreign bourgeoisie engaged in a true multifaceted ideological campaign with the intention of deposing Joao Goulart and conquering for himself greater space in the bones of the restricted State.
