RESUMO:

The topic in question is based on a research on foreign presence in brazilian society from 1917 to 1922, analysed from the point of view of the repression to the immigrants, who were at first the hope for the constitution of a new society. Some foreigners linked to workers' organizations fought against the absence of labor regulations, a fact that only served to favor industrialists and bosses. In response to the strikes and mobilizations of urban workers, the State created several expulsion laws to send back those immigrants who were or were not integrated into the world of labor and mass mobilization.
