"Sing to the lord a new song": Bernardino de Sahagún's catechization strategies in Psalmodia Christiana (1583)
Psalmodia Christiana; Psalmos; Bernardino de Sahagún; Catechization; New Spain.
This dissertation seeks to analyze how Psalmodia Christiana, a book of psalms in Nahuatl, may have contributed to the catechization of the natives of New Spain. Through the analysis of the source and the contribution of other documents on the political and social context of the time, we aim to understand how Bernardino de Sahagún addressed in his book two important themes for Christian doctrine: hell and the figure of Mary.
