GRANDE ÁREA: Ciências Humanas
ÁREA: História
SUBÁREA: História Antiga e Medieval
RESUMO:

Although medieval history and the epistemological perspective of decolonial theories are well established in Brazil, Brazilian medievística still presents itself quite traditional due to its close connection with French historiography, which in turn weakens the advent and proliferation of new approaches and theories about Medieval History. Thus, this research aims to bring to the debate the approaches of North American Neomedievalism, as well as the reflections that treat the medievistic along with the decoloniais theories in order to bring new approaches, such as the post-colonial medievalism, applying them to the case of the Brazilian pastor Valdemiro Santiago de Oliveira. In this case, Neomedievalism will emerge as a reflection in the analysis of the hagiography of the "Apostle" Valdemiro Santiago, produced as an instrument of sacralization, with Africa as context and scenario of religious experiences that made him an "apostle".
