RESUMO:

This work analyzes the policy of exile (degredo) and the performance of the exileds (degredados) in Angola, in the 18^th century. The degredados were structural in Angola, especially in what concerns the maintenance of the Portuguese presence. However, the action of these criminals exiled came from Portugal in the new colonial territory occurred in a different way in their social, political and economic relations established in Angola, since the degredados did not form a homogeneous group. Most of them were useful to the Portuguese monarchy and obtained social mobility.
