RESUMO:

This essay intends to investigate how the disciplines of Introduction to Historical Studies and Theory of History are delimited in the undergraduation degree in fluminense universities. We believe that knowing how professors think about theoretical teaching is essential to comprehend the different conceptions of knowledge that make up History courses. To this end, the dissertation is divided in three stages: the first consisted of understanding the context of institutionalization of undergraduate courses in History in the second half of the 20th century; the second stage was intended to historicize the discussions on the implementation of the Introduction to Historical Studies discipline in the 1960s, mainly through the analysis of the annals of the 1º Encontro Brasileiro Sobre Introdução ao Estudo da História; and, finally, the syllabus contents and mandatory bibliographic references established in the current History Theory programs at universities in Rio de Janeiro were investigated. With this, we intend to highlight the consensus and disputes present in the construction of historical knowledge.
