RESUMO:

This research aims to analyze the relationship between masters, slaves and freedmen in the process of access to freedom through freedom actions in Porto Feliz, in the second half of the 19th century. We intend to investigate how kinship relationships, as well as other forms of solidarity, were of paramount importance for the achievement of freedom or, at least, for the experiences of freedom. The goal is, through cross-referencing, to understand the social relationships of people involved in freedom actions in addition to legal issues. In view of this, check the information in the freedom records with the parish records of baptism, marriage, death, post-mortem inventories and newspapers.
