RESUMO:

This dissertation deals with the performance of Antônio Delfim Netto, an economist who graduated from USP and who had a close relationship with Brazilian businessmen and was a powerful minister during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship. The proposal of the work is to analyze the performance of Delfim as an organic intellectual of the Brazilian ruling class, especially the Paulista and industrial. In this sense, we analyze the Delfim in his dimension of academic intellectual, as professor of Economics of USP; as a subject close to entrepreneurs and employers' organizations, in particular Fiesp, CNI, ACSP and Ipes-SP; and as finance minister between 1967 and 1974, at the height and most authoritarian moment of the dictatorship, when the so-called economic "miracle" was in force. In this sense, the research tries to contribute to the understanding of the trajectory of this subject, so relevant in the history of contemporary Brazil, as well as in the understanding of the character of the Brazilian dictatorship, which had a class profile and attended preferentially to some specific fractions of the business, according to the different periods of the scheme.
