SUMMARY:

We note which is the specificity of Nietzsche's critique to the 18th century Enlightenment, because it`s from this that he promotes his affiliation to the Enlightenment as a movement of the spirit that crosses eras. Starting from Human, too human, Nietzsche don´t conceives his philosophy or else as a historical philosophy, and it`s at that moment that he begins the comprehensive overcome of metaphysics and aims to "carry forward the flag of the Enlightenment". With these considerations, we propose a revision around the place, already put and crystallized, that this philosopher occupies in contemporary historiography that is the patron of the postmodern theories in history. We demarcate where, how and through whom your philosophy acquired an irrationalist and essentially anti-enlightenment face. Beside this, we present some authors and what they argue to challenge such a view. We approach Nietzsche's proximity to Voltaire and the German`s relationship with the periods of history that he chooses to be the most grandiose (where self-control, the self-coercion and a discipline of instincts prevail), placing them in a historical chain of the Enlightenment, this chain that he himself subscribes to.
