SUMMARY:

This aim of this study is investigate the uses and the effects of temporal language of North American dystopian comics 

contextualized in the late 1980s. The documents selected to this purpose were Jim Starlin’s four volumes of 

Gilgamesh II (1989) published by DC Comics and Frank Miller’s first four volumes of Give Me Liberty (1990) from

Dark Horse Comics. Based on the idea that dystopias are interesting objects to reflect theory of history, the focus 

of this chapter is discuss configurations of contemporary temporality from the form these comics portrays the time.
