SUMMARY:

This dissertation aims to analyze the psychiatric hospitalizations of eleven women political prisoners during the Military Dictatorship in Brasil, specifically in the 1970s. To carry out this analysis, psychiatric medical reports of these women were used as primary sources, accused of being part of various organizations that are dangerous to nacional security according to criminal proceedings, issued by various health institutions, both private and public, and also some secondary sources, such as newspapers of the time and parts of the criminal proceedings. The reports are dated, stamped and signed by civil and military doctors and were methodologically analyed from the perspectives of Contents Analysis and Discourse Analysis. The eleven political prisoners had their behavior pathologizes according to the morals in vogue at the time. The paths and diagnoses presented singularities and also similarities in the cases discussed, both in relation to each other and in relation to previous historical periods, but maintaining the link of the interrogation and stigmatization experience between them from “double deviation” perspective against the established regime: because they are supposedly communist militants and because they are women who broke with the social place destined for them, that of the private sphere. Thus, the research shows how the medical-psychiatric discourse had real effects because in the represented a consonance with the forms of hegemony in force in the Dictatorship, occupying this área of medice in a relevant position in power-knowledge relations in the period analyzed, marked by the belief in a “red danger”, wich took the bodies of these women as part of the threat to political and social order, linking political ideologies, madness and gender stereotypes.
