SUMMARY:

This work aims to trace the paths of the construction of the memory of Luz del Fuego, through the analysis of collective, organic, and intentional movements that unfold in disputes of discourses and tensions surrounding the female imaginary. Luz del Fuego was an artist who stirred up the "Teatro de Revista" of the 1950s, performing in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro. The intention is to present the disputes regarding the construction of the artist's imaginary in spaces of memory, both virtual and physical, identifying the subjects of dispute while highlighting the presence of the discourse produced by the artist herself in her literary works and her documentary. To do so, we use gender theory as framework to understand the uses of the body and nudity in Luz del Fuego. By consulting sources such as "A Verdade Nua" and "Trágico Blackout," it is evident that the artista understands the uses of nudity beyond the viewer's delight but as a political action and a manifestation of her sexuality. Thus, by mobilizing her sexuality, it is assumed that Luz del Fuego's refusal to attribute her nudity solely to the viewer's delight questions not only what is said and understood as true about the sexuality device but also exposes a perverse interplay between power and pleasure, evidenced by the disciplinary power exerted over bodies and, consequently, over sexuality. At the same time that power imposes a useful and conservative perspective on sex, stimulated by confessions and scientific knowledge cloaked in morality, it also expands, and surveillance and confession arouse curiosity. There is, therefore, pleasure in exercising disciplinary power through monitoring and judging deviant behavior from the truth understood in the moral values of a specific time and space. To this end, it is necessary to analyze the spaces of memory about the artist, as well as the intentions behind the rescue and construction of her imaginary. Finally, an attempt was made to elucidate some of the meanings attributed to public nudity and how the recovery of the memory of a "rebel body" enables the artist's connection to discussions and even the popularization of feminist concepts through the reading of some of the possible "transgressions" of the body, space, and time, observed.
