SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze and construct a historical and political narrative
about the emergence and performance of the Brazilian Labor Party in Bahia between the
years 1945 and 1954, pointing out the importance of the party in the context of liberal
democracy, regarding its relationship in the political-electoral game with the main
associations of the period, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National
Democratic Union (UDN), the actions of parliamentarians in the State Legislative
Assembly, the internal cleavages and their characteristics as a party that addressed the
masses workers through unions. This section in question marks the rise and peak of the
national PTB, as well as the Bahian one, notable for the intervention within the party of
the pragmatic Getulist tendency, that is, the profile of the PT members who cultivated
Vargas' charisma for political purposes and power projects. Such approaches are
supported by newspapers circulating in the state capital and Rio de Janeiro, in addition
to data from the TSE.
