RESUMO:

The present research is focused in analyses the cultural production from two indigenous ethnical groups from Hispanic America made out during the colonial period. To support this work, two documents produced during the second half of the XVI century at the Highlands of what is today know as Guatemala were used. Been: El Título de Totonicapán, produced by the k’iche, group and the Memorial de Sololá, produced by the kaqchikel group. The main objective of the present work is to analyses how the k’iche and kaqchikel ethnical groups re-wrote their history within the colonial period in the Hispanic America.  It was also made an attempt to, based on the chosen format adopted by the ruling elites, raise evidence of what would be the purpose to re-write its ancient histories, now under a different cultural context.
