SUMMARY:

The period 1966 - 1997 saw tremendous progress in terms of black representation in both Marvel Comics and the DC Comics super adventure comic book. This was an important contributing factor to the advancement of African American civil rights. During this period, classic characters like Black Panther, Falcon and Green Lantern John Stewart showed that African Americans could be as powerful and heroic as any other member of the Marvel and DC universes. These characters were not only symbols of civil rights, but also of cultural pride. They held a special place in the hearts of many readers in the black community, who saw them as positive representations of their own culture. Furthermore, these characters have helped inspire countless young people to confidently pursue their dreams, no matter what their backgrounds. It is important to recognize the significant impact that black representation in Marvel Comics and DC Comics had on the Civil Rights Movement during this period. The success of these characters was a huge step forward for African Americans, showing that they could be accepted and respected in mainstream culture.
