In this research proposal, we take as our object of study the newspaper headlines from Rio de Janeiro, from 1909 to 1911, according to the occurrence of the word favela or "favella". From this, we will analyze the headlines of the newspapers O Paiz and A Notícia, protagonists of a journalistic debate that took place in 1911, which had as its backdrop for criticism between rival political groups, the installation of a school on top of Morro da Favella.
