RESUMO:

The act of reporting social eventsis subject to some variables that influence its discursive construction. The news - product of journalism - is there sult of a process of textual, spatial and imaginary elaboration that aims to transmit meanings to those who consume them. After all, the press act in the field of influence, seeking to persuade readers to represent of the real they produce. In view of these questions about the dynamics of journalistic news, the present work seeks to understand ifand how police news can serve for a media institution to act in the political field. To do so, we will analyze editorials, reports, columns and news from the news paper Última Hora (RJ) aboutthe Nestor Moreira case, a journalist beaten by guards in the 2nd Police District (Copacabana) in 1954. In addition, we will problematize memorialistic reports of journalists who worked in Última Hora in the 1950s. Agents who produced narratives about the style of police news made by Samuel Wainer's news paper. There fore, we aimed to show how Última Hora produced police news about Nestor Moreira's beating crossed by power relations that influence the format, style, approach and text, representing the event according to the news paper's political interests.
