RESUMO:

This work has for goal analyze as the Catholicism influenced testers of Candelaria’s Parish in the beginning of 18 th century to sell, donate and manumit their slaves. We analyzed the testaments in set of Rio de Janeiro’s  evelopment and theological thinking that endorsed the slavery, for thereby conclude which motivations took the testes to such acts.
