This dissertation a imsatthe World Bank'spolitical-economic agenda for Brazil in theyears 1995-2002. In it, we first analyze the historiography produced about the relation ship between the country and IBRD, and then we go through the role of the Bank as a political-intellectu alctor from the encouragement of projects for infrastructure in 1949, through the expansion of actions for agricultural areas , industry and development banks, health, education, shared management of society, poverty until were achedthedebt crisis in 1982, when the precautionary political measure of structural adjustmentlending appeared, with emphasison liberalizing, financial reforms, deregulation of the economy and mainly focus edonthe management of public debtand the construction of the fiscal adjustment narrative.As a methodological reference, Robert Cox'sreading of Gramsci's historical materialism in interdisciplinary dialogue with the International Political Economy isused. It also analyze stwore portson the world development (RDM) of the institution, the list of projects signed (its menus, numbering, yearandvalues) and some reports, documents and reports emanated by the Bank, onand for Brazil.
