RESUMO:

Our research entitled "RTP Song Festivalsand MPB Song Festivals: BetweenTraditionand Modernity", intendstoanalyze the song festival sthattook place in Portugal and Brazil, known respectively as RTP Festiva sand MPB Festivals. These festival semerged in the 1960s and were held intermittently until theyear 2000 in Brazil, and to this day in Portugal. In the Portuguese case, the festival isalsopartofano the revent, the Eurovision Song Contest, which Portugal, for the irst time, came towin in 2017. However, more than reporting the event satthe festivals, our research turnsto issues relatedto the tradition and modernity in the same context, thatis, the moments in which pastachievements, national symbols, folklore, etc. are rescued, and also in which technical novelties, technological resources, fashions, etc., and / orfusion of all the seelements, whether inserted in the songs, performances, scenarios, promotional videos, etc.  However, although the festival soccurto date, our clipping focuses initially in between 1964 and 1975, when, in addition to being considered the mostfertile musically, the wo countries were under authoritarian regimes.
