RESUMO:

The present thesis aims to understand, through texts and articles published in the Revista Ecclesiastica Brasileira, from 1964 to 1988, the strategies of political and social intervention adopted by sectors of the Catholic Church, especially issues related to the life of rural workers and , his conception of the best agrarian reform to be made in the country.

We will try to understand the institutional trajectory of the Brazilian Ecclesiastical Review, the projects and political conceptions of Agrarian Reform expressed in such periodical, in the aforementioned period. We will demonstrate how R.E.B. and his collaborators were positioned in front of the main political events of the phase analyzed by us and how they faced the intense debate on the agrarian question. Thanks to this, it will be possible to answer some questions that have been put in this work: like R.E.B. and his collaborators were in the period we studied (1964-1988), in relation to the debate on the agrarian question? What proposals of Agrarian Reform defended in R.E.B.?
