This present research has the goal to analyze how the latin american caudillos are represented in the novels written by the colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. The essay will also discuss how to use literature as an academic source in history works, as well as thinking about the concept of “caudillo”. The life and work of the author will be included in the research, for example, how he was raised, his childhood, his beliefs and how all that impact on his novels.
