Discourse of Order: the Dominicans in the Great Plague of Lisbon of 1569
Epidemics; Theological discourse; Portugal; Modern age.
The research proposed here has as a general theme the Black Death that devastated the European continent from the year 1348 onwards. , the Breuue Summario, a letter from an anonymous Dominican friar, who wrote to a friend in the year 1569. The conjuncture of this period is that of a city devastated by an eschatological framework manifested in a series of conjectural events, such as wars, famine and religious schisms such as the Protestant Reformation. Therefore, I emphasize the treatment of this framework to understand the task that is pursued in this company, I affirm, however, to focus on the Great Death of the year 1569, since I consider it useful to follow the objectives that will be presented later on.
