SUMMARY:

The present work investigated the production of disparate masculinities from the invention of Dzi Croquettes and Secos & Molhados in the scope of the sexual policy of the civil-military dictatorship (1968-1976). From the notions of counter-conduct and performativity, we focused on a heterogeneous set of performances, representations, presentations, music and theatricality that complicate a partial and simplistic view of the normative statements of masculinity and femininity that crossed and constituted the discourses of the ideologues of the dictatorship. The contribution and innovation of this work is to approach the history of these groups at the same time, having friendship as one of its main vectors. It is concluded that the Dzi Croquettes and the Secos & Molhados collaborated to destabilize a hegemonic conception of bellicose masculinity, to a large extent, modulated by notions of virility and domination.
