SUMMARY:

In this present research we will examine the entertainment market in Rio de Janeiro, specifically the dancers who worked in dancing and cabarets in the city during the 1930s and 1940s. The labor of dancers was organizated by the police of customs. The dancers had a police record that was produced by Vice Squad departments. The worker’s claims, that emerges on the press in the 40s, will be analyzed to situate in time and space the experiences of work and labor union dancers. We will indicate how the morality has influeced in the concept of labor. In this connection, it’s possible to reflect about the political changes after the 30s. Until the 30s, the police has executed the role of organize the market entertaintment. When CLT was published, consolidated a process that was structured in the previous years and the worker’s claims got space on press. CLT increased the action repertoire of the workers and they started to dispute their rights in the logic of Vargas period, mobilizing around of a labor union.
