SUMMARY:

This thesis takes as its source and object of research Maquis, a magazine that
essentially published journalistc content on politcs and that circulated in Brazil from 1956
to 1962. The motivating question of the thesis is to know if it is possible to identify in
Maquis characteristics that indicate its worked as a journalistic institution that articulated

diverse political interests, notably of people who were located in the brazilian liberal-
conservative field; and what reasons explain the choice of these people to create a

magazine – and not other types of institutions with a political focus – to try to spread their
ideals. Due to such questions, this thesis proposes a historiographical analysis capable of
covering both the producers and the news content of Maquis during its existence.
