Integralism, Putsh, 1938, press
During the Vargas government, especially during the Estado Novo period, the media was controlled in favor of the government. The May 1938 uprising was widely covered by the newspapers, mainly blaming the Integralists. The Correio da Manhã, O Jornal, and Diário de Notícias were the newspapers that we most frequently used as a source. Even under censorship and in the context of an authoritarian regime, these publications expressed to the public different and significant perspectives and biases related to the episode.
