SUMMARY:

Recent research has put in check certain portions of the history of the Jewish people in the intertestamental period, due to the Greek advances in occupying areas previously dominated by Judaism in the 2nd century BC. What can be said, for sure, is that the history of the Macabeus in this period seems distant. In view of this information, the present research significantly approaches part of the historiographical that deals with the Judaizing culture, having the Battle of the Maccabees as a background. The victory of the so-called Macabeus insurgents against the troops of Antiocu IV Epifanes rekindled a cultural movement previously extinguished by Greek troops, reaffirming its identity. This work seeks to analyze the discourses produced in the battles and their symbolic systems in the construction of the mythological question and in the construction of Macabeu heroism.
