RESUMO:

The present work is dedicated to analyze the historiographic pretensions of historical narratives constructed by military reserve officers through textual productions, in this case, Military Club Review. This institution, a civil entity, functions from its beginnings as a place of military political action, preventing that cleavages could weaken the hierarchy and unity of the barracks. In this research, we focus specifically on a special edition of this publication, No. 452, dated the first quarter of 2014. It proposes to construct a thematic dossier that articulates, through a series of articles, essays and period material, an interpretation on the events of 1964 and their impacts on the recent history of Brazil. The hypothesis proposed here is that the historical narratives of groups and institutions that positivate the meanings and directions of the coup and dictatorial regime are becoming more sophisticated. These discourses seem to rehearse approximations of certain notions of historiography, in order to be clothed with certain parameters of truth and science, thus becoming subject to dialogical correlations to the Brazilian political scene of the last years. In this sense, questions surrounding the ethical implications of public uses, and therefore political ones, of this sensitive recent past are at the heart of the reflections proposed here. Transiting between fields and approaches such as Theory of History and Historiography, Public History and Intellectual History, this work tries to approach the intellectual efforts of researchers who have been leaning under shades that delineate the historical cultures in the contemporaneity.
