RESUMO:

In this present research we will make an analysis of the film Memories of Underdevelopment by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. In this work we see cinema as a form of discourse, which proposes a formulation of images and ideas about the world and for the world, as a work of language. In this sense, cinematographic language plays the role of constructor of the reflections of a director. Language construction for narrative, temporal cut and themes discussed are some of the elements that solidify the image that a director wants to create and affirm about a representation of reality. The film becomes a window to observe what the director says and how he says about his worldview. The construction of the narrative, based on the cinematographic language, will be our object of study, trying to understand how Gutiérrez Alea proposes an identity project. Identify which and how identity references are articulated in the film for the construction of an identity that is cultural, but also political. We want understand the role of the intellectual within the Cuban Revolution, for the construction of a project advocated by Alea.
