SUMMARY:

This study analyzes the urban development of Rio de Janeiro and its expansion to the West Zone during the period of the Military Business Dictatorship, focusing on the Campo Grande neighborhood, in light of the interests of the real estate market. Based on studies that examine the actions of the civilian sector during this political regime, we seek to analyze how this segment of the dominant class, together with the State, fulfilled roles in this process. In addition, we also aim to understand how these businesspeople interacted with social movements of residents directly affected by the actions of real estate capital.
