ABSTRACT

The present research aims to propose a study of writing and biographical research in the context of the historiographical movement of the Annalesthrough the analysis of the work of a historian linked to the first generation of this movement. The specific source of analysis will be Martin Luther, a destinationof Lucien Febvre, published in 1928. The central question that permeates the investigation is to identify the characteristics of the biographical writing of Lucien Febvre in the work in which he is dedicated to Luther, from his conception of history. In the prologue to the first edition, Febvre presents this work with the assertion that the text contained therein is not biographical. Based on this statement, our hypothesis of analysis is to investigate how the author states that the text is not biographical if it behaves the main characteristics of the genre in the Historiographical field.
