This paper aims at analyzes the case of appropriation of medieval hagiography in the book of the apostle Valdemiro Santiago de Oliveira, The Great Deliverance, through the approaches of North American medievalism. Thus, the research aims to bring to the debate on the Middle Ages new reflections beyond the concepts of reminiscence and long duration, introducing in this debate the studies of postcolonial medievalisms, applying it to the case of medieval hagiographic production as a form of appropriation. for the legitimation of Valdemiro Santiago as an apostle and his image as an exceptional man.
