This task aims to comprehend the relations between the Catholic Workers Youth (JOC) and the Revolutionary Left Organizations in Volta Redonda, and their forms of struggle and resistance to the Brazilian State from 1962 to 1971. It also searches through the experience and memory of former militants understand JOC's trajectory the city above spoken, as well as the causes that led to its disarticulation in the early 70's. The JOC in Volta Redonda was created in 1962 and acted an important role in the combat for the rights of young workers, a fact which caused to be persecuted and silenced after the 1964´s coup. However, the arrival of Bishop D. Waldyr Calheiros in 1966, brought a kind of a revival of the group, which became stronger and became involved in social issues attracting the attention of revolutionary leftist organizations like as (POLOP, VAR-PALMARES, PC do B), which approached the JOC and initiated a joint action to criticize the military. Nevertheless, these actions were contrary to the policy of the Brazilian state, which considered them as subversive. This fact led to a great repression, resulting in the arrest and torture of several militants from these two groups, disrupting the JOC´s group experience in the city.
