This dissertation has as main objective to analyze the development of the town of Queimados throughout the 19th century to confirm that it is not from the arrival of the railway that Queimados appears, the inauguration of the Estrada de Ferro D. Pedro II station only consolidates a emerging locality, which constitutes an urban nucleus with the construction of a chapel in a square in front of the train station. The research evidenced the origin of the name Queimados, arising from the village that was conceived in the leases of fazenda São João de Queimados. The implementation process of the Estrada de Ferro D. Pedro II and the inauguration of the railway station were examined, motivating the commercial growth and the arrival of liberal professionals and new inhabitants, in addition to the analysis of the construction of the church, organized by the residents in the second half of the year.
