Urban Quilombo Sacopã – Besieged: endless struggle, incessant resistance. Conflicts and debt in the southern district of Rio de Janeiro (1929-Present)

This research aims to investigate,through microanalysis, the quilombo Community Sacopã (community integrated by the Pinto family) – located in LadeiraSacopã, in the neighborhood of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, south of Rio de Janeiro – in particular the tensions and conflicts between the community, part of the wealthy neighborhood, the public power, contractors and real estate companies and the resistance agencies of the Pinto family to continue living in the place where they habe been settledsince 1939. The intention is to make sense of the paths outlined by the quilombo Sacopã community and understand their actions through their strategies, values and occupied spaces and the roles they occupy within the city, as well as understanding the possible contexts in which that they could be inserted within a society in a constant process of racialization.
