In the present proposal, I take as an object the exchange relations in which Afro-Brazilian and African religious
specialties were inserted between 1890 and 1904. In other words, I intend to investigate the functioning of a market
of priestly techniques of “magic”1 organized and exercised by “profaned priests”. ”, who, through their religiosity,
produced ways to establish themselves as professionals of magic.
