SUMMARY:

The research is based on the action and development of the Negras Brotherhood in the northern region of São Paulo and central region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, as well as the Afro Pastoral Work in the eastern region of the city of São Paulo and in the Baixada Fluminense region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. We intend to bring data that collaborate with the hypothesis that the rescue and appreciation of African heritage in Brazil goes through cultural identity and one of the possibilities is that the approach to identity elements should be given both by oral tradition and formal education (BÂ, 2010). Our goal is to listen to the voices of the protagonists of these movements, to document and propagate their narratives, so that they can tell, from their perspective, how the struggles of black resistance within the church are regulated. With the method of participant-observation, in an epistemic empirical perspective, we examine the political participation of the members and the groups, emphasizing and highlighting the role of women in the struggle against social and racial inequalities. We propose, at the end of the study, the elaboration of a paradidactic material that will be distributed to educational centers, as a subsidy to be used in formal educational spaces. The results may also contribute to the elaboration of public and affirmative policies in the area of education and culture, contributing to the advancement of the dialogue between civil society and formal and non-formal education systems.
