IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW 10.639/2003 IN THE EDUCATION OF BELFORD ROXO

Law 10.639/2003, Belford Roxo, Anti-racist curriculum, Educational projects.

Reflecting on the importance of implementing Law 10.639/2003 and 

anti-racist education in the curriculum, in pedagogical practices and 

in society's actions as a fight against racism and its consequences 

is essential and urgent. In this sense, research on municipal education 

in Belford Roxo is a way to raise awareness through educational, 

political, social, religious and economic questions. It is not about 

teaching or criminalizing the actions of managers and educators, but 

understanding the path taken during these almost 20 years of the law in force. School units provide daily relationships between people of different ethnicities, therefore, they are places of plurality with the power of learning and acquisition of ancestral knowledge. Given this, knowledge and application of the law are essential for a contextualized and efficient teaching. In this sense, the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations and for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture, as well as black authors such as Nilma Lino Gomes, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Petronilla Gomes, among others, help in the reflection and discussion about the municipal educational reality also influenced by active educational projects
