RESUMO:

The aim of this research is to investigate early childhood education as a place for the constitution of the self from the relationships of babies and their others in the nursery. The baby to be constituted as a oneself depends on someone who welcomes him, who wants him, who acts and who acts as another subject of relationship. Understanding these relationships as a mark of the human condition was the fundamental element for the choice of our theoretical basis that was constituted with Mikhail Bakhtin's Philosophy of Language and his Circle of Studies and with Psychoanalysis from Donald Winnicott's studies on the theory of Personal maturation. The intention to establish a dialogue between Language Philosophy and Psychoanalysis was motivated by finding in Winnicott's theory an approximation with Bakhtinian thinking about the conception of subject. Both take the subject as relational, which constitutes a space of exchange and partnership, the other being essential in the constitution of the self. The field research is being carried out in a municipal public day care center in a municipality of the Baixada Fluminense, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, involving nine babies aged between ten and sixteen months, two teachers and four class assistants. In this first stage the methodology used was participant observation, carried out over a period of five months, at different times in the routine of the class of Nursery I. The observations were accompanied by photographs, filming and field notes. The analysis of the events, considered as unique and unrepeatable, are being organized into four categories: the nursery as a good enough environment; the body shaping the baby subject; the baby and the other: the nursery language and class with a potential space. As an initial analysis essay we highlight that the subtle experiences that happen during the different activities of the routine, are permeated by the touch, the look, warmth, hearing, smell etc .. They give visibility to the needs and interests of babies. When these subtleties are not perceived as marks that constitute human subjectivity, early childhood education no longer offers the conditions babies need to develop physically and emotionally.
