This research starts from the objective of analyzing from the experiences of individuals, individual and collective, from the Colônia do Paiol quilombola community, how the organization, confrontation and collective struggle for the territory is built. Located in the Rural Zone of the municipality of Bias Fortes, in the Zona da Mata region of the state of Minas Gerais, the Colônia do Paiol community received its certification by the Palmares Cultural Foundation in 2005, a fact that represented a historical achievement, since the formation of the community dates from the late nineteenth century. However, numerous challenges still arise for the Colony of Paiol, which manifest themselves in the dimensions between land, territory, work and education, which has led to the mobilization and organization of collective subjects around the Quilombola Association Colony of Paiol (AQUIPAIOL), Created in 2007 with the purpose of representing the residents in the search for public policies, besides promoting cultural actions to affirm the quilombola identity. Such collective experiences, built by men and women, make us wonder which political place occupied by the quilombola social movement in the Brazilian reality, that is, which strategies are being conducted by the quilombos to overcome the processes of oppression, exploitation and material-symbolic expropriation. in their territories. In this sense, this research investigates how AQUIPAIOL was formed, its demands and articulations with other social movements, recording the experiences of practices, knowledge and practices that reflect the political and educational character of the association. Concomitantly, we seek to insert such experiences in the set of Brazilian reality and totality, tracing the historical-social and political-economic processes of the formation of quilombola communities, the conflicts and contradictions of the Brazilian agrarian structure and the importance of social movements and popular struggles. in the socio-political debate and dispute, which emerge and build on civil society. This is a qualitative, bibliographical research, using the procedures of document analysis, open and semi-structured interviews for data collection. The theoretical-methodological framework is supported by authors who insert social movements in the relationship between state and civil society, bringing the political and educational dimensions and tasks of popular organizations, fundamental for human emancipation and overcoming capitalism. One of these authors is Antonio Gramsci, especially in his contribution on the issues concerning the construction of working class hegemony, the question of subordination, the place of the peasantry in the revolutionary process and the organic intellectuals for the formation and elevation of critical mass consciousness. popular. Thus, it is hoped that this research may contribute to the need to highlight and value the experiences built by quilombola communities regarding their forms of organization and collective struggle for the territory, while reflecting and building new lexicons for understanding the role of movements. social groups in the processes and social relations and power in contemporary Brazil.
