SUMMARY:

The purpose of this work is to investigate teaching work in the state education network of Rio de Janeiro (Seeduc-RJ), at secondary school level, specifically in the discipline of Sociology, during the first years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Having, as a method of theoretical approach, dialectical historical materialism, presented here with Marxist authors, treated within the research approach (ANTUNES, 2018; FRIGOTTO, 2015; SILVA, 2021).. As a research methodology, we seek the execution of “data collection” with a descriptive character, considering qualitative analysis, the application of questionnaires and interviews with education professionals, in addition to bibliographic sources. The empirical field to be researched takes into account the characteristics of the city of Piraí as a digital city, which is an important point in the period researched (2020 and 2021) with online education. The investigation will be carried out in the three State schools in the municipality of Piraí, namely: Colégio Estadual Affossina Mazillo Teixeira Campos, located in the city center and the others distributed in the district of Arrozal: Colégio Estadual Octávio Teixeira Campos and in the district of Santanésia : Colégio Coronel Camisão. Even though the three schools are located in the same municipality, the object of the research is to observe how each school unit dealt with online teaching work during the period of the covid-19 pandemic, taking into account the period from 2020 to 2021. relevance of this research, proves compelling due to the in-depth analysis it proposes to carry out regarding questions about teaching work and its precariousness in the most critical period of the covid-19 pandemic.
