SUMMARY:

The socio-environmental crisis in which humanity finds itself did not arise in a single
generation, it was built through a process of choices that materialized a
way of thinking. The ways of seeing and understanding the world were being replaced
in more or less long historical periods. These changes have brought us to the
thought that guides modern society. Modern thought has overflowed from the
science and reached society as a whole, transferring to it, its peculiarities,
such as the need for simplification for understanding, linearity, the path
for the truth, among others. Capitalism has exacerbated these characteristics, the
using to implement productivism that interprets beings, human or not,
as cogs for production and for the accumulation of profit by the owners
of the means of production. The unbridled search for the accumulation of wealth by one part
of society, to the detriment of the survival of other beings, has brought us to the current crisis.
This crisis is a paradigmatic crisis, considering that modern thought has not
conditions to overcome the challenges that he himself imposed on society. In this way, a
range of attempts to overcome modern thought and its limits have been created
by collectives committed to building and pointing out alternative paths, and that allow
overcoming the crisis. One of these collectives is the Group of Studies and Research in Education
Environmental, Diversity and Sustainability - GEPEADS that works at the University
Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro since 2003. Members of GEPEADS are,
since 2014, creating a training proposal for environmental educators who
can be radical and bold enough to break with the modern capitalist paradigm,
freeing environmental practices from the limits imposed by modernity. This proposal
was called Pedagogical Experience and offers a
through an immersive experience in a formative space with a way of
radically different from the way of life of modern society, seeking to unveil
to environmental educators in training, the limits imposed by modern society on
their practices, as well as to promote the construction of a praxis free from these limits and
with greater transformative possibilities. This text brings the elaboration of the
Monitoring of the Pedagogical Experience that aims to assist in the
consolidation of the identity of the proposal, in addition to verifying its formative power.
