This report seeks to understand the masculinity formation processes of young black adolescents. By privileging a multidisciplinary reading in the field of history, biology, anthropology and the critical pedagogies elaborated by British and Latin American Cultural Studies, decolonial studies, gender studies we intend to discover if belonging to a racist patriarchal culture interferes with the delicate process of “making Black Man ”in this period of transit between youth and adulthood. We use as a starting point for analysis the theories of race developed by Carlos Moore and Kabengele Munanga for the understanding of ethnic-racial relations, associated with Connel's concept of hegemonic masculinity articulated with the critical theories of African-American intellectuals that intersect the issues of race. race and gender.
