LIBERALS IN EDUCATION: AN ANALYSIS FROM THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FREE BRAZIL MOVEMENT
ABSTRACT
Key Words: Free Brazil Movement. New right. Educational project
In Brazil it is possible to verify the growth of conservatism and the new right from the “June 2013 Days”. This is a movement that promoted a series of demonstrations against the increase in the prices of public transport tickets, in this context the Free Brazil Movement was created, based on the initiative of the Students for Freedom group, unable to participate in the days due to the funding provided by the Students for Liberty movement. This work is based on the theory of Integral State formulated by Antonio Gramsci, formed through a double dimension, civil society and political society. The MBL is formally created in November 2014. Our goal is to investigate what is the educational policy project of the new right in Brazil. The specific objective is to identify who the members are, to investigate who are their organic intellectuals, partnership network and funding source, to verify if there is a connection between the movement and the North American organization Atlas Network and Students for Liberty, to verify if there is a connection between the movement with the Free Pass Movement, Freedom Network, understand which impacts of the policy proposals, investigate the relationship of MBL with the ideology "School without Party" and, finally, identify which individual and collective demand the movement comes to meet. We take the historical and financial crisis of 2008 as a socio-historical perspective, when there is a triggering of movements that facilitated the adhesion of conservatism expressed in the election of candidates in many countries, with Donald Trump the most resonant case. To this end, primary sources will be analyzed, among them, the proposals approved in congress November 2015 by the movement, booklet produced by MBL Student, pages and social networks that are under the responsibility of MBL and Free Uni and as secondary sources, the theses produced analyzing movement and newspaper and magazine articles.
