RESUMO:

Introduction: Body image is an area of knowledge that has gained representation in recent decades. Therefore, many researchers have made efforts to study it and also in the development, validation and / or cross-cultural adaptation of instruments for its evaluation in the most diverse strata of society. Objective: this research intends to carry out the cross-cultural adaptation, validation and reliability of scales for assessing body image for adolescents with visual impairment in Brazil. Methodology: The target population will be approximately 740 visually impaired adolescents, of both sexes, aged between 10 and 19 years old, including students with low vision and blindness. Participants will come from schools in Brazil, such as Instituto Benjamin Constant, in Rio de Janeiro, Instituto Paranaense de Cegos, in Curitiba, Instituto São Rafael, in Belo Horizonte, from Instituto Antônio Pessoa de Queiroz, in Pernambuco. The collection instruments will be the Self-Acceptance Scale - Early Blindness (SAS-EB), Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS), Functionality Appreciation Scale (FAS), Body Appreciation Scale (BAS) and Sociodemographic Questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis and multivariate statistics will be used for data analysis. Expected results: The possibility of adapting body image assessment instruments for visually impaired adolescents in school contexts can enable assertive interventions in this population, in order to expand knowledge in the area and enable more assertive and effective interventions in the educational scope. Thus, the proposal of the present research can provide positive aspects in the educational process of this population, given the relevance in the construction of an integrated and positive body image for the development of the subject.
