FOR A LATIN AMERICAN DIALOGUE: SOCIAL SERVICE IN BRAZILIAN AND ARGENTINE EDUCATION
Social Service. Education. Comparative History. Brazil and Argentina.
This research aims to understand the insertion of Social Work in the education policy of Brazil and Argentina. It sought to identify points of approximation and distances that contribute to the development of the profession in the area in question. Latin American countries, especially Brazil, still devote little to studying and understanding the reality of their neighbors and, thus, fail to value actions that can contribute to the development of neighboring countries. The history of Brazil and Argentina come together in different periods and this may indicate a way for the strengthening of their professionals. The possibility of developing this research was justified, then, by the need to expand dialogue and reflection on the integration of neighboring countries in the educational field and the insertion of the social worker in this field, in particular. Through qualitative research, it was sought in the diversity and unity contained in the past and present of Social Work, the possibility of building new professional practices in the field of education. For this, historical, bibliographic and documentary research guided the comparative study between Brazil and Argentina. The thesis was structured in four chapters, the first dealing with the colonial period of the countries in question. The second presented the Brazilian educational policy and the insertion of the social worker in this area, starting in 1930. The third chapter is structured in the same way as the second. However, he presented the information from Argentina. Finally, the fourth chapter presented a survey of data on what universities address in their curricula on the subject, in addition to the scientific productions presented at relevant events in the area. In the fourth chapter, a brief comparison was made of the topics covered in the first chapters. Given the above, it was found that the dialogue between Brazil and Argentina on Social Work in education is still very small, requiring actions that contribute to a closer relationship. Therefore, a proposal was made to offer an extension course in distance education that fulfills this important objective and contributes to the development of this socio-occupational space in the two countries in question.
